As we close the chapter on 2024, the A.D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Protection Centre celebrates 34 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Armenia. This year has been one of significant challenges and profound impact, as we continued to defend fundamental freedoms and support those most in need.
Our 2024 Annual Report highlights how our partnerships with donors and community members have translated into real-world change.
Our legal teams in Yerevan, Shirak, Gegharkunik, and Syunik remained on the front lines, ensuring that justice is accessible to all, regardless of their financial situation.
- 3,587 Individual Consultations: Throughout 2024, we provided professional legal guidance to over 3,500 people, helping them understand their rights under the law.
- 140 Rights Restored: Beyond just advice, our legal experts successfully navigated the judicial system to restore the rights of 140 individuals.
- Support for the Displaced: In response to the crisis, we provided dedicated legal assistance to 348 compatriots forcibly displaced from the Republic of Artsakh, helping them secure their status and access social protections.
Our Civil Society School remains a cornerstone of our mission to build a democratic future. In 2024, we focused on empowering the next generation:
- 1,000+ Participants: Our training sessions covered essential modern skills, including media literacy, management, and critical thinking.
- Youth Research Initiatives: Our young analysts produced 10 comprehensive reports on critical issues such as the environmental protection of Lake Sevan and the ethical challenges of Artificial Intelligence.
We believe that change happens from the ground up. This year, we supported local initiatives through targeted sub-grants:
- 8 Community Organizations Supported: We provided funding and mentorship to eight NGOs, resulting in projects that improved disaster risk management and created new social platforms for women entrepreneurs in rural areas.
