On April 11, a discussion was held within the TOT club of the Shirak branch of “The A.D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Protection Centre” NGO on the topic “Why Methods Don’t Work”.
Speaker Ani Kocharyan presented the mistakes often encountered during the application of methods and the features of an inclusive environment.
Key Theses of the Discussion
🔹 Mechanical application. A method is a tool, not an end in itself. Without adapting to the context and the needs of the audience, any approach loses its effectiveness.
🔹 Lack of inclusivity. Methods cannot work universally if the characteristics of an inclusive environment and each learner’s individual needs are not taken into account.
🔹 Environmental resistance. For a method to “work,” it is necessary to prepare the appropriate environment in advance, where even making mistakes is perceived as part of the learning process.
🤝 The meeting took place in an atmosphere of active professional dialogue, contributing to the exchange of experience and the formation of new, more mindful educational approaches.
Education today is not a collection of methods but the art of applying them wisely and flexibly.
